                                Beetles 甲壳虫

Beetles are not mammals. They are land living insects. They drink juice or water.  Some beetles have stripes. Other beetles like the mealworms look red. Beetles have extroskeleton. Beetles need food and water like other animals do. Beetles can live to be 8 years old.

甲壳虫不是胎生动物。它们是生活在陆地上的昆虫。它们喝叶汁或水。有些甲壳虫身上有条纹。有些则呈红色，比如黄粉虫。甲壳虫长着硬壳外层。它们和其它动物一样需要食物和水来维持生命。甲壳虫的寿命可达8年。

What do beetles look like? Adult beetles have three main (body) parts: a head, a thorax (chest) and an abdomen (stomach). The abdomen breaks down the food.

甲壳虫是什麽样子呢？成年甲壳虫的身体有三部份:  头部，胸部，腹部（肚子）。腹部是用来消化食物的。

Earwig is a kind of beetle. Earwig’s feelers can pinch you. Watch out! Don’t get surrounded by them. Run for your life.  A bunch of earwigs can be in one group. I touched a real earwig before but it was dead. A live earwig can be mean. Earwig lives in your house too. Well, do we have enough earwigs?  

地蜈蚣是甲壳虫的一种。地蜈蚣的尾钳能夹疼你。小心！别让它们围住你，快逃命吧。许多地蜈蚣在一起可结帮成伙。我曾经摸过一只真地蜈蚣，不过是死的。活的地蜈蚣会很凶的。地蜈蚣也可能寄居在你的房子里。嗯，讲地蜈蚣讲得够多的了吧？

There are more than 4,500 different kinds of beetles! Here are some kinds: dung beetle, ladybug, mealworm, and birch boar beetle, Asian longhorn beetle. You can keep beetles and observe them. And take good care of them!

甲壳虫的种类有4500多种！这里举几个例子：蜣 螂   （ 屎 克 螂 ） ， 瓢 虫 ，黄 粉 虫 ， 桦 树 虫 ， 亚 洲 长 角 牛 虫 。你可以捉些甲壳虫来饲养，并观察它们。要好好照顾它们啊！
